Our Mission

Roots Farm & Retreat’s Not-for-Profit exists to steward land as a space for healing, creativity, and belonging. Through accessible arts, cultural, and land-based experiences, we invite community to gather in reflection, expression, and connection, cultivating collective wellbeing in relationship with the earth.

The Not-For-Profit

Roots Farm & Retreat’s Not-for-Profit creates space for connection, creativity, and collective wellbeing on 75 acres of organically stewarded land in Newington, Ontario. While the Cooperative supports farmers, the Not for Profit focuses on people, especially rural seniors, newcomers, BIPOC communities, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, youth, and residents facing isolation.

In a region where formal mental health services are limited, we offer land based programming that helps people reduce stress, build resilience, and feel a deeper sense of community . Through activities such as yoga, breathwork, mindfulness walks, creative expression workshops, and seasonal gatherings, participants reconnect with themselves, each other, and the rhythms of the land.

Our geodesic dome and Mongolian yurt provide welcoming gathering spaces designed with inclusion in mind, ensuring seniors and participants with mobility needs can participate comfortably. Together, these spaces support workshops, retreats, and community-led experiences that strengthen intergenerational bonds and foster cultural sensitivity.
